Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Annunciation. Here is where it all began. Many years ago, God sent His Archangel Gabriel to visit a small town in Nazareth where he found our Blessed Lady, Mary, steeped in prayer. She was startled when he greeted her with the words “Hail Mary Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee”. She was puzzled by these words but Gabriel went on to reveal to her God’s plans on coming down in the form of a man to redeem and restore humanity back to Him, to re-open Heaven. Our Lady said Yes to God’s plan: “Be it done unto me according to thy word”. Throughout our lives, our Lord reveals to us His plans for us so that we can say Yes to His Grace with our trajectory fixed on Heaven. Let us strive to say Yes/Be it done to our Lord in everything He asks of us, however difficult it may be, like our Lady did, trusting in Him and our Lady’s Motherly intercession to bring us to our Heavenly home.
