Of all days in the year, this day we can and should give all the glory to God the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. After all, they were all involved in creating us and now sustaining our being. So the question we can ask ourselves is how do we go about giving all glory to Them? How much do we thank Them for our lives and the lives of those closeset to us: our family, friends, colleagues? A short examination of conscience (on a daily basis) can help keep us on our trajectory to Heaven, to one day be able to embrace Them when we are full of Grace, either immediately after our death or after having to spend “time” in Purgatory (remember time as we know it on Earth ends upon death, but we might need a little or a lot of soul cleansing in Purgatory). Lastly, let’s remember to really pay attention when we make the sign of the Cross, to do it slowly and with reverence. Because as we bless ourselves many times throughout the day, that can help remind us that the Trinity is constantly trying to embrace us with Their Love and fills our soul when we say Yes to that Love. Also, making the sign of the cross can help ward off the Devil (who hates the Cross, since the Devil was defeated by Christ on it).
I end with these words of St. Hyppolytus about the Cross that I reflected on in my personal time of prayer this morning “Just as when a bottle of perfume is broken, the aroma spreads everywhere, so when the Body of Christ was broken on the Cross, his Spirit was poured out into our hearts”. Let’s ask our Lady to love the Holy Trinity as she loves Them and to be that good fragrance/aroma of Christ, as we go about our day.
