Today the Church celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday. We are reminded that Jesus’ Love, His most Sacred Heart, is full of mercy. There is no sinner He will not give His mercy and forgiveness to, even if one’s soul is scarlet in sin. St. Faustina Kowalska never stopped asking Jesus for mercy because she had great trust in Him. So too, we can see ourselves as sinners who are madly in love with Jesus Christ. We need Him to fix our brokenness, to help us begin again, to believe as St. Thomas did when his faith was weak and needed to see Jesus physically and touch His wounds. Even though St. Thomas saw and believed, Jesus invites us to believe in Him. Even though we don’t see him physically now, one day, if we are faithful and full of love at the end of our lives, we will embrace Him in Heaven (because Heaven we are bound and meant for!). We will see the scars (in His glorified body) that redeemed and loves us personally. He will tell us “These scars were for you and all humanity!” At the same time, He is present in all the tabernacles of the world in the Eucharist: His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. While we are still wayfarers on the road to Heaven, let us tell Him “Jesus, I do believe, help my unbelief, because I love You”.
